Below are some examples of 18th-19th-century botanical illustrators. I’ve chosen to incorporate some references to the classification of nature in the Enlightenment in my work, because I feel it expresses the need of humans to organise what they see, to make sense out of an overwhelmingly organic and chaotic place. The Enlightenment inspired me to research this scientific revolution’s famous illustrations. Choosing botany specifically is referencing my use of plants previously. I still want to incorporate them.
